Soft sand in about 24ft of water
We honestly, just stopped here to check into the country & swim with whales before sailing to Vava'u
Small supermarket by the Customs office.
We booked our whale swim with Sea Change eco resort and had a great experience. They only take NZ or local currency, NZ credit cards, or international wire transfer. We suggest booking your tour in the Ha'apai group as there are less tour operators increasing your chance of having more encounters with these gentle giants.
Beluga Diving owns most of the moorings.
Swimming with whales, Veimumuni Caves, Swallows Cave (our favorite) and Mariners Cave
Market by the cruise docks, various family run shops. Please know that very few shops of owned and run by Tongan families. We were told that many Chinese people have come in and bought up all the land and lease it back to the Tongan people. We preferred to shop in Tongan owned stores. The locals mainly sell their goods down at the market by the cruise docks. Be prepared, if a cruise ship is in port, there will be an extra 200-1,000 people on shore.
The moorings go REALLY quickly. Contact Beluga diving for information but helpful to have a cruiser grab one in their dingy if you are close by.
The Kraken restaurant has trivia night every Thursday night which is a lot of fun. Call ahead and make a reservation for your team.
Bubbles laundry by the market does a fabulous job! I took 4 loads of items (all bedding, towels, blankets, etc) and dropped off at 9am and had them back by 4:30pm for $60. Well worth it!
We have two videos for the country of Tonga but this is our favorite!
